The opportunity:


Combine your passion for sport with your commercial, marketing and relationship skills to help grow our revenue base and lead our marketing effort. This is a new role and we are looking for an experienced Leader to join our Strategic Leadership Team.

What you will be doing:

Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for the Commercial and Marketing Team at GolfNZ - leading, developing and implementing the Commercial and Marketing strategy and fostering existing and new partnerships to drive growth in commercial revenues.

Specifically, you will:
  • Lead the development and implementation of the organisation's commercial, sponsorship and marketing strategy.
  • Negotiate commercial, sponsorship and funding agreements that generate new revenue streams for the organisation while retaining existing funding streams.
  • Lead the commercialisation strategy for the Golf New Zealand website and associated digital properties to drive digital revenues.
  • Oversee the process of securing charitable trust funding and maintaining relationships with charitable trust organisations.
  • Lead the organisations marketing, media, and communications functions.
  • Build strong relationships with commercial partners, golf club leaders, key sector representatives, and supporting golfing organisations.
  • Actively contribute to the development and implementation of the Golf New Zealand strategic direction and annual business plans
  • Lead the development and implementation of marketing and digital content communications programmes internally and externally.
What you will bring:
  • A relevant tertiary qualification - Commerce and/or Marketing, Sports Management
  • Proven track record of at least 5 years in Senior Marketing and/or Sales Leadership roles and being part of an organisation's Senior Leadership Team.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing strategic plans that achieve organisation sales and marketing goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor high-performing sales and marketing teams, fostering collaboration and innovation.
  • Experience in developing, managing, implementing and measuring the effectiveness of integrated communications campaigns
  • Strong digital sales experience including track record of delivering against agreed sales targets
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with a history of successful partnerships and relationship management
  • Knowledge of the sporting / not-for-profit landscape in New Zealand desirable
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with multiple stakeholders
  • A passion for sport
In addition, you must have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
