TITLE: 2ND ASSISTANT MECHANIC – BEY LEA GOLF COURSE
STATUS: OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

This is to advise that the position of 2nd Assistant Mechanic is now available in the Division of Roads. The Job Qualifications are as follows:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to read, write and speak English sufficiently to perform the duties required of this position.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience, varied experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of various types of motors (hydraulic, electrical, and small engine systems preferred), vehicles and equipment.
Thorough knowledge of varied types of motors, equipment and their operation, with ability to diagnose reasons for motor and equipment failure.
Ability to analyze mechanical problems, organize assigned work and develop effective work methods to do mechanical work in the garage and in the field.
Ability to use diagnostic tools and shop equipment.
Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
Ability to obtain, store, record, safeguard and properly use equipment, materials and supplies and to keep necessary records.
Earned high school diploma or equivalent and technical mechanical diploma or certificate or an accepted standard equivalent.
Golf course maintenance experience preferred but not required.
Must have or obtain a CDL within 180 days of hire.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in varying weather conditions.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of turf equipment brands including but not limited to :
Toro, John Deere, Jacobsen, Kubota, Club car.
Strong attention to detail and troubleshooting ability.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
In the garage and in the field, perform mechanical work on golf course equipment including:
reel, mowers, rotary, mowers, tractors, Utility vehicles, aerators, Small engines and handheld equipment. Perform oil changes, lubrication, filter replacement, blade sharpening, and reel grinding, diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues under supervision. . May be required to do welding of various types.
Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records. Inspect equipment for safety and operational readiness. Help organize and maintain a clean, safe workshop area. Assist with equipment setup for daily mowing operation. Operate equipment as needed for testing and emergency support.
Follow all safety procedures and environmental regulations. Obtains, stores, records, safeguards and properly uses equipment, materials and supplies and keeps necessary and appropriate records and files.
Assist senior mechanics with larger repairs and equipment overhauls.
Performs other assignments as assigned at the discretion of the employee’s immediate supervisor on as-needed basis as directed by the immediate supervisor.
Under the provisions of the existing Teamsters Local #97 contract regarding blue collar positions, when promotions to a higher labor grade or transfer to another grade are in order, the Township shall make such promotions or transfers from among those regular employees. Department Heads are directed to notify their respective employees of this opening and applications are to be filed with the Division of Personnel.
Record of conduct and performance in present position will be considered.
