The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will work directly with the Superintendent in supervising, scheduling, planning, budgeting, training, and leading crew members. This position requires knowledge of all aspects of golf course maintenance including operation of equipment, turf management, bunker maintenance, pesticide and fertilizer calibration and application, irrigation repairs, and water management. The candidate must be highly self-motivated, possess a positive attitude, and lead by example. Must have a keen eye for detail while focusing on crew training and course conditions. Must be a hard worker with a strong willingness to learn and complete tasks in an efficient and timely manner. The ideal candidate will have the dedication and commitment to learn and grow in the turfgrass management field with the goal of becoming a Golf Course Superintendent.

Essential Job Functions:
- Motivates and directs staff on a daily basis and prepares work schedules
- Trains new staff on standard operating procedures and safe operation of all equipment
- Assist in planning and supervising the daily set up and maintenance of all areas of golf course grounds with an emphasis on greens and tees.
- Assists Equipment technician in problem-solving and repair of equipment when needed.
- Helps plan, coordinate, and complete construction projects that improve playability.
- Involved in all aspects of IPM and BMP programs including fertilizer and pesticide calibration and applications.
- Supervises and participates in operation and maintenance of pumps and installation/repair of irrigation and drainage.
- Assists in personnel management and evaluation, employee safety and may also modify the daily work based on professional interpretation.
- Involved in native plant restoration throughout the golf course
- High School Diploma/ GED
- 4 Years related experience and/or training
- Requires advanced knowledge of agronomy and turfgrass management practices. Working knowledge of golf facility principles, practices, and methods. A thorough understanding of the rules and strategies of the game of golf.
- Must have a valid Arkansas Pesticide applicators license or pass within 6 months of employment.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are required.
- Personnel management experience is necessary
