*Salary:* *$60,000–$65,000 - this is a year-round position!Benefits : A full and complete benefit package* *Reports To: Golf Course Superintendent* *Direct Reports:* *Golf Course Maintenance Staff* *Recent Agronomy Graduates, 2nd Assistants, Parks Maintenance Supervisors are encouraged to apply - * *What We Are Looking For* The successful candidate will be a dependable, hands-on leader who takes pride in excellent golf course conditions, strong attention to detail and enjoys developing and working alongside a maintenance team. *Position Summary* Our Public Golf Course is seeking an experienced and motivated *Assistant Golf Course Superintendent* to help lead the daily maintenance and agronomic operations of the golf course.This position is ideal for a golf course maintenance professional who combines strong technical turf knowledge with hands-on leadership skills and is ready to take on increased responsibility within a golf course operation. *Key Responsibilities* – *Golf Course and Turf Management* * Assist the Golf Course Superintendent with the daily maintenance and overall conditioning of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, landscaping, and other golf course areas. * Help implement turf management programs involving mowing, fertilization, irrigation, pest management, plant care, and other agronomic practices. * Mix and apply fertilizers, pesticides, and other turf-care products as directed and in accordance with applicable regulations and label requirements. *Team Leadership* * Schedule, supervise, train, and mentor golf course maintenance staff. * Assign daily work and ensure tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to established course standards. *Irrigation, Equipment, and Infrastructure* * Assist with the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the golf course irrigation system. * Monitor soil moisture and irrigation needs, adjust irrigation schedules as appropriate, and perform spot irrigation when necessary. * Assist with repairs involving irrigation lines, valves, sprinkler heads, and related infrastructure, including emergency repairs when necessary. *Safety, Environmental Compliance, and Recordkeeping* * Assist the Golf Course Superintendent in implementing and enforcing departmental safety programs in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal requirements. * Support the facility's Hazard Communication (HAZCOM) program and reinforce proper safety procedures throughout the department. * Maintain required pesticide application, chemical-use, maintenance, inventory, and other departmental records. *Course Setup and Golf Operations* * Assist with daily course setup, including hole locations, tee placement, bunker preparation, and other playing-condition requirements. * Monitor course conditions throughout the day and respond to issues affecting playability, safety, or appearance. * Perform other duties as assigned. *Qualifications* - *Necessary* * At least *2 years of experience* in golf course maintenance, turf management, or a closely related field. * Working knowledge of golf course maintenance practices, including turf care, irrigation, fertilization, and pest management. * Valid driver's license. *Qualifications - Preferred* * Associate degree, certificate, or other formal education in turfgrass management, agronomy, horticulture, golf course management, or a related field. Equivalent relevant experience will also be considered. * Previous supervisory or team-lead experience within a golf course maintenance operation. * CPR and First Aid certification. *Schedule* Golf course maintenance requires early-morning work and periodic weekend and holiday coverage. Additional hours may occasionally be required during tournaments, weather events, renovation projects, or periods of heightened agronomic activity. *Physical Requirements and Work Environment* This position requires regular outdoor work in varying weather conditions and the ability to perform physically demanding golf course maintenance activities.Employees must be able to: * Lift and carry up to 50 pounds. * Frequently bend, stoop, climb, pull, and perform other physical tasks. * Safely operate golf course machinery and maintenance equipment. * Work around moving mechanical equipment, noise, dust, fumes, chemicals, wet conditions, heat, cold, and other conditions typical of a golf course maintenance environment. * Safely and effectively perform the essential physical requirements of the position.
