Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

Jupiter Hills Club | Tequesta, Florida

Village Course

Salary: $85,000–$95,000, commensurate with experience

The Opportunity

Jupiter Hills Club is seeking an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our Agronomy Leadership Team, with primary responsibility on the Village Course.

This position offers the opportunity to assume meaningful responsibility within a 36-hole private club operation during an important period in the Club's history. Jupiter Hills will host the 2027 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship, followed by an anticipated renovation of the Village Course in 2028.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Village Golf Course Superintendent and Director of Agronomy in the daily management, conditioning and continued advancement of the Village Course. We are looking for someone prepared to contribute immediately, take ownership of their responsibilities and continue developing within an operation that places significant value on its people.

The Candidate

Our ideal candidate is a proven turfgrass professional who is ready to assume meaningful responsibility within a complex golf course operation.

We value demonstrated leadership, sound agronomic judgment, operational awareness and the ability to positively influence both people and performance. The strongest candidates will be able to assess course conditions, establish priorities, anticipate needs and translate information into thoughtful decisions and executable plans.

Technical knowledge matters, but success in this position requires more than technical proficiency. We are looking for someone who communicates clearly, works effectively alongside other managers, earns the respect of employees and understands how individual decisions affect the larger operation.

Confidence and humility are equally important. We value professionals who are willing to make decisions, take ownership of outcomes, seek perspective when needed and remain committed to learning throughout their careers.

Responsibilities

The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will work closely with the Village Superintendent to manage the daily operation and conditioning of the Village Course, including:

- Assist in establishing daily agronomic and operational priorities based on course conditions, weather, playability, staffing and available resources.

- Provide daily leadership, direction and accountability to the Village Course team.

- Evaluate course conditions and proactively identify agronomic, irrigation, pest, disease, playability and presentation needs.

- Translate field observations and agronomic data into clear recommendations and appropriate action.

- Coordinate labor, equipment and resources to execute daily maintenance programs efficiently and to Jupiter Hills Club standards.

- Provide leadership in moisture management, irrigation, plant health, chemical and fertilizer applications, cultural practices and course setup.

- Anticipate operational challenges and adjust plans as conditions change.

- Develop employees through clear expectations, communication, coaching and accountability.

- Collaborate effectively with fellow Agronomy managers and the Equipment, Irrigation and Landscape teams.

- Participate in agronomic planning, budgeting, capital projects and the evaluation and implementation of new technologies.

- Play a meaningful role in preparation for the 2027 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship.

- Participate in the planning and execution of the anticipated 2028 Village Course renovation, including construction and grow-in.

- Assume increasing responsibility as performance, knowledge of the property and demonstrated leadership warrant.

What We Value

Jupiter Hills is a high-expectation environment. Those expectations extend beyond golf course conditioning.

We value people who take pride in their work, remain curious about their profession and understand that successful golf course management is a team endeavor. Our managers are expected to communicate well, support one another, hold themselves and others accountable and contribute positively to the culture of the department.

We are interested in what candidates have actually been responsible for, not simply where they have worked. Experience at highly regarded facilities is valuable, but the depth of responsibility, lessons learned and demonstrated accomplishments within those environments matter more to us than the names on a résumé.

Qualifications

Competitive candidates should possess a combination of:

- Progressive golf course maintenance experience with demonstrated management responsibility.

- Strong working knowledge of golf course agronomy, irrigation, moisture management, plant health, plant protectants and cultural practices.

- Experience leading employees and coordinating daily golf course maintenance operations.

- Demonstrated ability to evaluate conditions, establish priorities and make sound decisions.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative management structure.

- A degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

- Florida pesticide licensing or the ability to obtain appropriate licensing following hire.

Experience within a high-performing private club, multi-course operation, championship environment or golf course construction project is beneficial but not required.

Professional Growth

We believe professional development is built through responsibility, exposure, accountability and experience.

The individual selected for this position will have access to two distinct golf courses, experienced department leadership, championship preparation, sophisticated agronomic programs, capital planning and a significant golf course renovation.

For someone aspiring to become a Golf Course Superintendent, those experiences can provide an exceptional foundation. We will invest in the successful candidate's continued development while expecting that individual to invest equally in our team, our operation and the responsibilities of this position.

Our objective is not simply to add another manager. We want to add someone who makes the people and operation around them better.
