In anticipation of the upcoming spring season, we are currently seeking a passionate and experienced individual for the role of Assistant Golf Course Superintendent (2IC) to join our team at Gungahlin Lakes Golf Club with an immediate start and a negotiable salary for the right candidate!
This opportunity is best suited to an experienced, self-motivated, and punctual, hands-on person. This is a full-time position working within the golf course maintenance team, with additional rostered weekend work required. Remuneration for the role is negotiable and will be guided by the candidate’s skills and experience, as well as being paid above the Registered and Licensed Clubs Award 2020 rate.

Objectives
Reporting directly to the Course Superintendent, the core objective of the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent (2IC) role is to manage all aspects of golf course maintenance, as well as assisting in several strategic planning initiatives for course improvements. The successful candidate for the position will also be responsible for leading and motivating the maintenance team, and overseeing all course operations, alongside the Course Superintendent.

The successful candidate for the position will also be responsible for leading and motivating the maintenance team, and overseeing all course operations, alongside the Course Superintendent.
Key Responsibilities
Develop course maintenance staff to a high skill level and work with the team to employ these skills in day-to-day activities with the aim of improving productivity and efficiency
Work with the Management team to promote member satisfaction through the maintenance and positive presentation of the golf course and surrounding premises
Maintain and build strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
Respond to communication in a prompt manner to ensure stakeholders remain up-to-date and well informed
Thoroughly assist in all WH&S training needs and procedures, including the identification of potential issues
Any other duties as directed by Course Superintendent or Senior Management
Assistant Golf Course Superintendent (2IC) Position Requirements
Certificate or Diploma in Sports Turf Management
Chemical spraying certificate, with practical experience in chemical and fertiliser application and reading safety data sheets
Minimum five (5) years’ experience in the turf industry
Practical experience in the operation and maintenance of horticultural plant and machinery
Experience and sound knowledge of irrigation, repairs, programming, and troubleshooting
Strong work ethic with demonstrated ability to motivate and lead a small team
Demonstrated ability to manage time and competing priorities effectively
Competent and experienced with a wide range of turf machinery
Effective communication skills with ability to liaise with team members and members of the public
Ability to perform the inherent physical requirements of the role
Hold a current Australian driver licence
Valid, full-time Australian working rights
