Description
Under immediate supervision, perform routine professional work that assists in conducting the support services at a city owned golf course. Works pro shop counter collecting fees and merchandise sales. Prepare reports, maintain records, and handle financial and banking matters. Coordinate and provide support service as assigned to include tournaments, outings, school teams, leagues and First Tee liaison. Teach and promote the game of golf, and related duties as assigned and required.
Examples of Duties
Provide excellent customer service relations and strive to provide services that increase customer satisfaction, revenue generation, and rounds of golf. Ensure effective management of the golf cart fleet, driving range operation and provide support throughout the golf course. Meet customer needs and expectations by improving customer services. Assist patrons with information on the rules of the game, etiquette, and selling the game of golf. Sell/Encourage patrons to make the golf course thier course of choice. Maintain an enjoyable, safe and healthy attitude and atmosphere.
Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of high school diploma, supplemented by some experience in recreation and golf leadership activities; and or completion of professional golf school apprenticeship program.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of techniques and methods of the rules, etiquette, equipment and game of golf; general knowledge of the practices, methods and policies used in municipal golf course operations; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the public and other employees; ability to operate the pro shop activities and to account for revenues; knowledge of community organizations and resources, ability to instruct youth, children and adults in various sports to include golf; ability to develop and maintain effective public and customer relationships.
