For many of us, communication is anything but easy. Speech, language and hearing problems affect 1 of every 10 people. The impact is profound at any age. Communication skills are critical to a young child’s development. Without help, these children simply don’t develop the skills they need to learn, to grow, to become productive. Hearing loss is a major factor affecting the health, wellness and quality of life of adults, as well. There is a clear connection between untreated hearing loss and social problems, including feelings of depression, social isolation, low self-esteem and difficulty functioning.
Columbus Speech & Hearing offers help - and hope. We believe that communication is what connects people to each other and to the world around them. We also believe that people with disabilities have the right to lead meaningful and independent lives. So when we help someone hear better or find a job or learn to express their thoughts and ideas through speech or sign language, we’ve made their world a better place. And ours, too.
CSH is a registered 501(c)(3) organization. We are currently one of the only providers in the area that accepts Medicaid, which makes our services crucial to those needing access to affordable hearing aids, speech therapy, and so much more. The proceeds we raise will support these services that so many people rely on but struggle to afford.

Who We Are
Columbus Speech & Hearing, an Ohio-based nonprofit that serves over 8,000 people annually with speech & hearing disorders.
Seniors, children, and individuals with special needs are the groups majorly impacted by these issues. Without the ability to effectively communicate for themselves, these vulnerable groups can feel unheard, misrepresented, disconnected, a lack of independence, and usually struggle with school and work-two huge building blocks of success. We fundraise so we don’t have to turn anyone away if they’re unable to pay. We are also currently one of the only providers in the area that accepts Medicaid, which makes our services crucial to those needing access to affordable hearing aids, speech therapy, ASL classes, and Deaf-blind assistance. The proceeds we raise support these services that so many people rely on but struggle to afford.
What You'll Be Doing
We discuss overall event strategy for our upcoming golf outing (our largest fundraiser of the year!), find sponsors, donors for the silent auction, teams to golf at the outing, recruit other committee members, discuss golf games, the run-of-show, etc. Sound like a lot? Fret not, our staff handles the details.
Time commitment
We meet virtually 1x/month for roughly 1 hour, with an additional 1-2 extra meetings closer to the outing Monday, 5/13/24 from 9am-6pm.
Almost all committee members attend and golf on a team that day, whether with colleagues or friends. We recognize the committee at the event and give everyone a gift.
Does our mission resonate with you and you're interested in getting involved? Please reach out! Together, we can make an impact.
