Summary: FootJoy is currently interviewing biomedical and mechanical engineering students to assist Engineering Staff with golf-specific footwear testing and technology innovation. We are looking for a biomedical or mechanical engineering major to apply engineering and sports biomechanics to advance golf footwear performance. In this role, you will learn how our footwear is developed from concept to commercialization.
Responsibilities:
Assist with initiating standard and custom golf footwear test equipment and test procedures
Assist with performance test equipment specifications, design and construction
Assist in performing mechanical, biomechanical and psychophysical (perception) testing
Assist with data processing and data analysis to identify trends and create reports with findings
Work with Advanced Developers and Factory Partners to build and refine experimental prototypes
Collaborate w/ internal partners & outside vendors to develop new technologies
Provide technical advice and feasibility assessment for new product concepts
Communicate with cross functional teams (Marketing, Design, Product Management, Quality, Legal), on product content issues throughout the prototyping and development process
Collaborate with various vendors and internal teams including: the Advanced Concepts, Design, Development and Manufacturing teams to facilitate product commercialization
Requirements:
Must be an undergraduate or graduate student currently enrolled in a Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering Program
Must be available to work full-time as a co-op either Spring (January) or Fall (August)
Prefer at least one year of study towards a BS in either Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering
Excellent communication & interpersonal effectiveness skills
Strong time/project management skills & the desire to build/expand competency in this area
One prior co-op preferred but not required
Proficiency in Python preferred; measurement and analysis course work, basic understanding of statistical principles required
Report writing skills strongly desired
Student must be able to work individually and as part of a team
Ability to move about a golf course and lift 80lbs
Must have a personal vehicle to travel to and from events with supplies to conduct event in Footwear Performance Lab
Duration of Role:
6 months: Spring (January) or Fall (August)
