JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB SUMMARY:
Provides customer service at the City facilities, including the SLO Swim Center front counter and Laguna Lake Golf Course pro-shop; collects fees from patrons, processes daily/shift revenue paperwork, assists patrons with facility reservations, and keeps the facility clean and clear of litter.
Average hours per week:
SLO Swim Center: 20-30 (Summer), 10-15 (non-Summer)
Laguna Lake Golf Course: 12-24
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS:
This class is distinguished from other front counter positions in that it is part-time/seasonal and is only assigned to City recreation facilities.
SUPERVISION
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Employees in this classification work under the direct supervision of the divisional Recreation Coordinators and Specialist.

- Must be able to work mornings, nights, and weekends.
- Provides a high level of customer service to both external and internal customers; receives and processes telephone calls and walk in requests; provides factual information regarding City and divisional activities.
- Operates standard office equipment, including job-related computer hardware and software applications and telephones.
- Performs a variety of office support duties following standard guidelines.
- Interprets and implements policies and procedures related to the department.
- Communicates effectively in person, over the telephone, and in writing.
- Collects facility fees from patrons upon entry; counts and balances daily/shift revenue and completes daily revenue forms.
- Enforces facility regulations and rules concerning patrons entering and utilizing the facility.
- Assists with specific programming held within the facility.
- Performs routine cleaning of facility and workspace areas.
- Works in a team atmosphere and participate on a variety of departmental activities to enhance the provision of all City services.
- Performs related duties similar to the above in scope and function as required.
Knowledge of:
- Simple arithmetic in order to make monetary change accurately.
- Interact courteously with co-workers and the public in a manner which projects a positive image of the Department.
- Handle money and operate a cash register.
- Make accurate arithmetical computations.
- Follow oral and written instructions.
- Work efficiently as part of a team and independently.
- Effectively communicate and engage positively with the public.
- Learn facility rules and regulations.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including diverse internal and external customers.

POSSESSION AND MAINTENANCE OF:
A valid California class C driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.- Not less than 15 years of age at time of appointment.
