The City of Port St. Lucie is an equal opportunity employer. This position requires the applicant to successfully pass a drug screening. Semi-skilled and manual work in maintaining, cleaning of city buildings and facilities. Work requires the safe operation of hand-maneuvered electrical scrubbers, waxers, buffers, mops, brooms, ladders, and cleaning chemicals. Work is usually scheduled from the early morning to mid-afternoon. Facilitates the development of public trust and confidence in the City.This position is an Essential classification and is required to report to duty before, during and immediately after a civil emergency.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The following duties are illustrative for this position. Keeps the mission, vision, and values of the City of Port St. Lucie at the forefront of decision making and action; builds strategic and collaborative relationships and interacts with others in a way that builds confidence and trust; provides excellent customer service by taking action to accomplish objectives, maintains high levels of work and productivity by generating innovative solutions to work situations. Maintains equipment and facilities by performing manual labor, painting, and semi-skilled work.Maintains Facility grounds, by performing litter control, pressure cleaning around the building, and other manual labor tasks.Performs tasks of stripping, waxing, buffing, and general housekeeping of floors and carpets.Performs litter control functions inside and outside of the facility. Cleans restrooms, and general janitorial functions.Collects and empties wastebaskets; collects and sorts recycling materials.Set up chairs and tables for meetings and clear area after meetings.Operates vehicles and equipment and performs preventative maintenance functions on the vehicles and equipment.Makes daily written and oral reports.Informs and directs public in the use of facilities.Other duties as may be assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally climb a ladder up to fifteen (15) feet in height. The employee Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Steel toe or composite toe shoes are mandatory. WORK ENVIRONMENTThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions that may be adverse and extreme (heat, humidity, cold, rain, etc.).
