About the Role: TGA Junior Golf Academy in Long Beach, CA is looking for a passionate, energetic and responsible Junior Golf Coach & Youth Development Mentor to inspire the next generation of golfers! This is a rewarding opportunity to join our growing team as we combine a love of the game with a commitment to youth development in a fun, structured environment. If you're ready to make a real impact on young lives both on and off the course, we want to hear from you! You do not need to be a PGA professional or have formal golf certifications to apply. We believe great youth coaches are great teachers, mentors, and community leaders first. We provide training, curriculum, and a coaching development pathway for you to succeed, make an immediate impact and continue to grow in your role. As a coach with TGA you will use golf as a platform to help kids develop fundamental golf skills, physical fitness, academic concepts, character, and life lessons in a fun and supportive environment. Where You'll Coach Our programs take place in two primary environments: School Programs (all coaches start here to learn the foundation of our unique & successful program) Introduce children to golf through fun, engaging programs at local schools. Help kids learn the fundamentals of golf in a welcoming, low-pressure environment. Lead games, activities, movement, and golf challenges that keep kids active and engaged. TGA Golf Academy (as you gain more certifications within our coaching development pathway) Provide more advanced instruction and skill development at our private facility located at Bixby Village Golf Course in Long Beach Work with students as they progress through our junior golf development pathway. Help students build technical skills, confidence, independence, and a love for the game. There are also opportunities to coach holiday camps, summer camps, leagues, clinics, special events, and other youth golf programs. What You'll Do As a Junior Golf Coach & Youth Development Mentor, you will: Lead fun, safe, and engaging golf activities for children of different ages (4yrs up to 14 yrs) and various skill levels (mostly beginner). Teach fundamental golf skills including putting, chipping, full swing, short game, rules, etiquette, and course awareness. Help students develop athletic and physical skills such as balance, coordination, movement, stability, and body awareness. Incorporate games, challenges, competitions, and activities that make learning fun. Encourage positive behavior, teamwork, sportsmanship, perseverance, confidence, and responsibility. Build positive relationships with students and create an environment where every child feels welcome and successful. Follow TGA's curriculum, coaching philosophy, safety procedures, and progression pathway. Adapt activities to different ages, abilities, personalities, and learning styles. Provide encouragement and constructive feedback that helps students understand how they can improve. Help create a positive experience for parents and families. Assist with equipment setup, breakdown, organization, and maintaining a clean and safe coaching environment. Communicate professionally with fellow coaches, academy staff, school personnel, students, and parents. Continue developing your own coaching skills through TGA's training and certification program. You may be a great fit if you are: A former athlete or current student athlete An educator, PE teacher or education student A retired professional wanting to give back to the community in the next phase of their career A current working professional with a flexible afternoon schedule and looking for a side hustle for extra money and to make a difference A college student studying kinesiology, psychology, or a related field A camp counselor A youth sports coach A former collegiate or high school athlete A golf or sports enthusiast who loves working with children Someone with strong leadership and communication skills who wants to learn golf or develop coaching skills Someone who simply enjoys creating positive experiences for kids We are interested in people who genuinely enjoy working with kids and helping them grow. You are energetic and enthusiastic You are patient and encouraging You are reliable and responsible You are positive and personable You are comfortable leading groups of children You are a good communicator You are team-oriented You are willing to learn You are professional and dependable You are comfortable being active and outdoors You are able to create structure while still making activities fun Because our programs take place at schools, golf courses, and outdoor facilities, coaches should be comfortable working outdoors and being physically active. This is more than a part-time coaching job for the right person. As you develop your skills, there are opportunities to take on additional responsibilities in: Holiday and summer camps Program leadership and administration Private and small-group instruction Weekend Junior leagues Advanced golf programs Clinics and special events Student assessments Coach mentoring and training We are building a coaching team that can grow with the organization.
