About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Horticulturist to join our golf course maintenance team. In this role, you will contribute towards developing, maintaining and presenting the gardens of the golf course and resort.

Reporting to the Golf Course Superintendent, you will be responsible for carrying out works in a quality, efficient and cost effective manner, to enhance the resort experience for our members and guests. Your key responsibilities for the role include:
  • General garden maintenance, pruning, trimming hedges, fertilising sub-tropical & native ornamental plants & gardens cutting greens, rough & general greenkeeping mowing duties
  • Handle, transport & store chemicals to control pest, weeds & diseases
  • Operate equipment and machinery, including tree chainsaw operation, performing safe work practices
  • Complete project works & contribute to the landscape maintenance program
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers & contractors and interact with guests to provide a high standard of customer service
Royal Pines is open 7 days week. Our golf course maintenance team work 38 hours per week. Shift time are Monday-Thursday 5.30am-2pm, Friday 5.30am-11.30am and one rotating weekend (Saturday & Sunday morning) per month. Availability to work these hours is required.



What you’ll need to be successful
  • Certificate 3 in Horticulture qualification, essential
  • Experience &knowledge of commercial gardening/landscaping techniques and operations, golf course maintenance, plant varieties, chemical use in a golf course or resort
  • Operate equipment, basic repairs and maintenance
  • First Aid Certificate, desirable
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills and excellent personal presentation
  • Work well in a team environment
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, take pride in your work, use initiative and can problem solve
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of manual labour & heavy lifting
  • Interest in the golf industry, an advantage
