The Metropolitan Golf Club is seeking to engage a passionate and experienced industry professional for the exciting role of Head of Golf.
Located in the heart of the world-famous Melbourne Sandbelt, The Metropolitan Golf Club is a progressive and inclusive Club which aims to provide members and guests with the best possible golf and social experience. Metropolitan has played host to numerous international events, including the 2018 World Cup of Golf. An exciting opportunity exists within our Club to further enhance the golf department’s performance through collaboratively engaging members, focusing on the development of our high-performing team and ensuring the successful management of the retail aspects of the business.
The Club is looking for a professional who is hands-on and prepared to support a dynamic and highly motivated team to deliver the highest level of service to member and guests. The Head of Golf will play a front facing role and be a key figure within the Club, a person who will build meaningful relationships over a journey.
Supported by a Golf Operations Manager, and leaders in retail and coaching, the Head of Golf will play the key oversight and support role to ensure that all segments are running effectively and delivering industry leading services.

Key Responsibilities
Some of the key responsibilities of the role include:-
- Oversee all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the Golf Shop and golf operations department in accordance with the Club’s Strategic directives.
- Oversee and provide guidance for the Golf Operations Manager including all administrative aspects of the department such as timesheets, program of events, and general golf scheduling.
- Work closely with the Guest and Corporate Golf Coordinator to ensure the successful delivery of corporate golf days.
- Oversee the management and growth of visitor golf, including corporate, and interstate/ international visitors.
- Strong focus on the Club’s retail operations including but not limited to apparel, hardware, equipment and accessories.
- Oversee the Club’s coaching and development programs, including management and support of all coaching staff.
- Work closely with the Club’s management team to ensure all departments are working collaboratively.
In-order to achieve the key responsibilities, it is expected that the Head of Golf will possess the following skills, qualifications and qualities:-
- PGA qualification.
- Experience working in a private golf club, with high levels of members and guest engagement and delivering exceptionally high-level customer service.
- A proven track record of leading a high performing team and ensuring the development and growth of that team.
- An outgoing personality and ability to build relationships.
- Outstanding communication skills – both verbal and written.
- Strong financial and business acumen.
- Exceptional communication, planning and organisational skills.
- Proficient computer skills, particularly in the MS Office suite of programs.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Display empathy and patience at all times.
