Jack’s Point Golf Limited is seeking a Head Golf Professional to manage golf operations at Jack’s Point, with involvement in the development of Glendhu Golf near Wanaka. We are seeking someone who has operated within high-performing golf environments and can bring both a strong service ethos and a commercially driven mindset. ABOUT THE ROLE Reporting to the General Manager – Golf & Hospitality, this role is responsible for the day-to-day management and oversight of golf operations, including staff, financial performance, and service delivery. The role will also be responsible for the planning and operational setup for Glendhu Golf and transition to that golf course in time. This role requires a commercially minded operator who understands the balance between delivering a world-class golf experience and driving performance across all aspects of the operation, including retail, play volume, and guest engagement. What success looks like: • Growth in green fee revenue and rounds played • Strong retail performance through effective merchandising and inventory management • High-performing team culture with clear leadership and development pathways • Continuous improvement of systems, processes, and guest experience • Delivery of operational projects and enhancements across the golf and clubhouse environment KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Golf Operations • Manage daily golf operations including tee bookings, retail, cart fleet, driving range, and tournaments • Maintain operational standards across the golf team • Enable delivery of events and tournaments Staff Management • Recruit, train, and supervise golf operations staff • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback • Lead meetings and operational briefings Financial Management • Support development and management of the annual golf operations budget • Monitor and grow revenue from retail, green fees, memberships, and lessons • Manage stock control processes and evaluate performance Customer Service • Maintain service standards for members and guests • Implement training programs to enhance customer interactions • Monitor and respond to feedback and implement improvements where required • Assist in the setup of the Jack’s Point Visitor Accommodation Program and the delivery of Stay and Play packages Systems and Technology • Oversee use and maintenance of booking systems and point of sale systems • Ensure accurate data capture and reporting • Evaluate and implement technology solutions to improve efficiency and guest experience Marketing and Promotions • Collaborate with Sales & Marketing to promote golf services and events. • Host golf rater groups and tour operators to grow brand presence. • Engage in cross-promotional initiatives with Darby Group services. Planning and Coordination • Work with management and other departments to ensure integrated service delivery • Attend monthly operations meetings and contribute to strategic planning • Produce monthly board reports Glendhu Golf Set Up • Develop operational procedures and systems • Manage the recruitment and training of staff • Implement booking and POS systems • Get involved with planning of events and opening activities ABOUT YOU • A tertiary qualification at degree level or higher in golf management, hospitality, business, or a related discipline • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in golf operations • Experience within premium golf clubs, private member environments, or luxury resort destinations • Proven ability to drive commercial performance across golf operations, including retail, green fee revenue, and overall guest experience • Experience in staff leadership, training, and performance management • Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills • Confidence working with POS systems, inventory management, and operational technology • Experience gained through structured professional programmes or internships is advantageous This role is based in Queenstown, however it is envisaged the role with transition in the future to Wanaka. It is a full-time position (minimum 40 hours per week), expected to pay between $105,000 – $125,000. The role will require work on weekends, evenings, and public holidays, and there may be travel required. Applicants should have the right to work in New Zealand.
