Title: Golf Course Turf Technician
Reports to: Assistant Superintendent

Position Overview

Are you someone who loves operating machinery, working hard outside, and being inspired to create and maintain pristine turf at a world class golf property? A vital role to Cabot’s world class success, you add value by operating and maintaining our large & small equipment, including riding & push mowers, utility & passenger vehicles, as well as other maintenance equipment. You expect to work flexible hours – mornings, evenings, weekdays and weekends as required. You are proud to represent the Cabot brand, and proactively act as an ambassador and role model.

Your LEARNING MINDSET, AGILITY and ability to think on your feet enables you to quickly learn golf terminology and the importance of each playable areas such as green, tees fairway, bunker. You enthusiastically participate in all Cabot training programs, assignments & activities and develop proficiencies with all equipment while gaining thorough knowledge in the grooming practices for fine fescue.



Executional Excellence

Under the guidance of the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent you will:
  • Implement world-class presentation of daily course set up and golf course conditions are achieved prior to the first tee time each day.
  • Ensure a safe, clean and productive work environment at all times.
  • Safely operate heavy duty and maintenance equipment.
  • Accurately complete equipment daily check in records.
  • Complete topdressing, aerating, verti-cutting, grooming/brushing and fertilizing tasks.
  • Perform irrigation, fertilizer and product applications while displaying responsible environmental protection practices.
  • Use proper PPE when operating equipment for self and others.
  • Operate gasoline, diesel and electric utility vehicles and other maintenance equipment in a safe, non-destructive manner.
  • Complete pre-shift staging of equipment and resources daily, as required by other team members.
  • Identify unsafe areas and activities and report hazards immediately.
  • Continuous debris and garbage collection throughout the golf resort.
  • Inspect diesel, gasoline, oil and other equipment fluid levels daily; reports any equipment problems, failures or damages to the Assistant Superintendent and/or Mechanic immediately.
  • Reports golf course conditions and all disciplinary issues to the Assistant Superintendent.



Qualifications and Experience
  • Knowledge of the safe operation of motorized equipment.
  • Knowledge of the principals to safely operate gasoline and diesel engines.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate hand blower, trimmers, and other various hand tools and equipment.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Positive attitude and excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Learn golf terminology and the importance of each playable areas such as green, tees fairway, bunker and understand the game of golf.



Physical Demands
  • Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions such as heat, cold, rain, snow and wind.
  • Communicate verbally with staff members and/or customers with or without the use of two-way radios.
  • Ability to spend long hours moving around, walking, sitting, standing, kneeling, reaching, shoveling and/or raking.
  • Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently or constantly .lift, carry, push, or otherwise move objects.
  • Give and/or follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work with and around motorized equipment movement hazards, and misdirected golf balls
