Job Description
Irrigation Technician - Golf Course
Join our winning team! The Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Course is Audubon-certified and carved right into the slopes of the Coastal mountain range. Working in the Golf Grounds department, the Irrigation Technician ensures the efficiency of the golf course’s irrigation system. The Technician will be responsible for all regular irrigation maintenance and audits.
This is a full-time seasonal position. We are looking for candidates to work throughout our 2024 Golf season, running from April - October.
Pay Rate:
$23.20 per hour

Reporting to the Golf Course Superintendents, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Consistently offers professional, engaging and friendly service
- Operate, maintain, install and repair a complex irrigation system, including leaks in distribution lines, valves, control lines and sprinkler heads
- Maintain and repair the master and satellite controllers
- Audit and inspect various components of the irrigation system
- Assist in a variety of grounds fertility and cultural programs
- Assist with various improvement projects
- Labor intensive work in the form of digging, lifting and pushing
- Other tasks as assigned
Your experience and skills include:
- One years experience as an Irrigation Technician required
- Experience in compressors and knowledge of Stratus II Irrigation program preferred
- Class 5 Driver’s License & Updated Driver's abstract
- Ability to operate all mowing and cultural equipment, chainsaw, and skid steer an asset
- Trouble shooting and problem solving skills
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Knowledge of tools, methods, and materials used in grounds and landscape maintenance work
- Ability to work in a team and independently
- Constant standing and walking throughout shift
- Lifting & Carrying up to 70 lbs.
- Pushing & Pulling up to 50 lbs.
- Bending & Kneeling
- Repetitive tasks and movements
- Working early mornings
- Working in a variety of temperatures and conditions (snow, heat, rain)
