SUMMARY:
This individual is responsible for the oversight of the merchandising program and aesthetic presentation of the golf shop for the members of Harbour Ridge Yacht & Country Club. The primary role of the Golf Shop Sales Associate is to maximize the profitability of the golf shop operation through merchandise sales. The Golf Shop Sales Associate will provide members and guests with superior customer service while selling merchandise and assisting management in merchandising, reservations, inventory control and special events preparation while maintaining a consistent image and a comfortable environment in accord with Harbour Ridge’s standards.

SUMMARY:
This individual is responsible for the oversight of the merchandising program and aesthetic presentation of the golf shop for the members of Harbour Ridge Yacht & Country Club. The primary role of the Golf Shop Sales Associate is to maximize the profitability of the golf shop operation through merchandise sales. The Golf Shop Sales Associate will provide members and guests with superior customer service while selling merchandise and assisting management in merchandising, reservations, inventory control and special events preparation while maintaining a consistent image and a comfortable environment in accord with Harbour Ridge’s standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain the availability of merchandise in a clean and orderly fashion
- Assist with merchandising and display arrangements with focus on needs and desires of the membership
- Ensure all merchandise is correctly tagged and priced
- Perform inventory procedures
- Remain informed of current trends and inventory status
- Develop new sales strategies, analyze and adjust to sale trends
- Handle ordering for specific high turnover items
- Meet or exceed turnover objectives
- Record and bill orders accurately into the register system and process payments
- Assist tournament ambassadors with the selection and timely ordering of tournament tee gifts and prizes
- Work with all departments to maintain maximum rapport and open communication channels to anticipate and satisfy member and guest needs and demands
- Provide a warm and hospitable club environment to members and guests
- Graciously welcome members and guests as they arrive
- Learn the names and personally recognize our regular members and guests
- Assist members and guests with merchandise sales, up-selling where possible
- Direct and manage telephone calls, assist with player registration and tee time reservations
- Process charges and cash sales for merchandise and fees
- Work closely with Head Golf Professional
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of current guest services, activities, dining options, shops, local attractions, and historical information regarding the surrounding area
- Must be flexible in working rotating schedule including weekends and holidays
- Provide our departing guests and members with a genuine thank you and invitation to allow us to accommodate them in the future
Qualifications and Requirements:
- 4 year College degree with at least two (2) years of retail experience along with professional certification (PGA or AGM) is strongly preferred.
- Minimum two (2) years Retail experience and documentation of purchasing from vendors, visual merchandising, appropriate sales techniques, and point-of-sale systems.
- Golf knowledge preferred
- High School Diploma or equivalent credentials
- Knowledge of Jonas Point of Sale Systems
- Knowledge of Chelsea Tee Time Reservation Systems
- Proficient in Windows XP and Microsoft Office software applications such as: Word, Excel, Outlook and MS Publisher
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to make simple math calculations
- Exhibits the Harbour Ridge Five-Star Behavior Standards with guests, members and co-workers
- Must possess a positive attitude and have the ability to work with a variety of people and cooperate with coworkers efficiently and effectively
- Must be detail oriented and able to manage competing priorities and multiple deadlines in a fast paced environment
- Ability to easily adapt to organizational and environmental changes
- Must be flexible to working days, early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Report to work at the scheduled time, neatly groomed and in compliance with company Dress Code Policy
- Must be at least 18 years of age
