These positions are employed as part-time during the year with the City of Longview at Mint Valley Golf Course.
Recruitment Information: Mint Valley Golf Course is currently looking for a Restaurant Leader. This recruitment will be open until the position is filled and applications will be reviewed as they come in.
Position Information: Guest Services Leaders are responsible for assisting the Golf Operations Supervisor with managing and overseeing all elements of the Pro Shop’s golf and restaurant related activities resulting in an exceptional overall golf experience for the course members and guests.
The candidate selected for this position will be subject to passing a pre-employment criminal background check.
Essential Job Duties
Pro Shop Leader:
  • Assists with ordering, purchasing, receiving, pricing and displaying of golf course materials in the Pro Shop by working closely with vendors and the Golf Operations Manager.
  • Performs monthly inventory and processes purchasing orders.
  • Actively recruits, prices, and books tournaments/special events by contacting the appropriate organizations and the Golf Operations Manager.
  • Works directly with the Golf Operations Manager to determine various types of bookings that ensure the highest utilization of the course.
  • Works closely with the Restaurant Leader to ensure space and restaurant needs are accommodated for any special events.
  • Completes necessary tasks to host tournaments/special events including set up and clean up facilitation, and staffing needs are met.
  • Ensures guest check-in and collect fees.
  • Advises golfers of schedules of play and waiting times, course conditions, and course rules.
  • Keeps current and informed of promotions and all club activities and services.
  • Assists with accounting for fees collected and with keeping clerical records.
  • Assists in tournaments and special events.
  • Assists with first-aid for minor accidents.
  • Ensures patrons have a safe and enjoyable golf experience.
  • Performs general daily cleaning duties, ensuring compliance with standard, health and sanitary requirements.
  • Assists the Golf Recreation Specialist and Golf Operation Manager as needed.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Restaurant Leader:
  • Assists with ordering, purchasing, receiving, pricing and coordination of restaurant activities and functions by working closely with vendors and the Golf Operations Manager.
  • Performs monthly inventory counts and processes purchasing orders
  • Works directly with the Golf Operations Manager to determine various types of sales and schedules for the restaurant and the mobile beverage cart that enable the highest utilization of the amenities.
  • Works directly with the Pro Shop Leader to ensure space and food needs are accommodated and staffed accordingly.
  • Assists with accounting for fees collected and with keeping clerical records.
  • Assists in tournaments and special events.
  • Assists with first aid for minor accidents.
  • Take food orders, prepare and cook food.
  • Perform cleaning duties daily of the food service process and preparation areas, ensuring compliance with standard, health and sanitary requirements.
  • Assists the Golf Recreation Specialist and Golf Operations Manager as needed.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Prior golf course, golfing, food handling, and/or retail and restaurant experience preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification or obtain within ninety (90) calendar days or as scheduled.
  • Food Handlers Card or obtain within ninety (90) calendar days or as scheduled.
  • Mandatory Alcohol Servers Training or obtain withing sixty (60) calendar days or as scheduled.
  • Cash handling, accounting, and auditing experience.
  • Customer service experience.
Ideal Candidate Information
Required Knowledge and Ability:
  • Knowledge of golf play, rules and etiquette conducive to acceptable play.
  • Knowledge of proper golf course conditions.
  • Knowledge of the methods and techniques for cashiering.
  • Working knowledge of first aide for minor accidents.
  • Ability to enforce rules and regulations firmly and professionally.
  • Ability to follow directives in an effective and timely manner.
  • Ability to perform custodial and laboring functions.
  • Safe work practices.
  • Communicate effectively both written and verbal in English.
  • Deal courteously and tactfully with the public and other city employees.
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
  • Experience in cash handling, inventory management, and food handling experience.
