Glen Arbour Golf Course is looking for a skilled and experienced full-time Golf Course Mechanic to join our Turf Team.



Under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent, the Golf Course Mechanic works independently in repairing and maintaining various gas, diesel and electrically powered golf course equipment. As the Golf Course Mechanic, you will maintain the proper operating functions of the course equipment and perform major and minor equipment repairs. In addition, the Golf Course Mechanic is responsible for the preventative care of golf course equipment, assisting in building the maintenance program, and ensuring safety is a top priority.



Some of the responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:


  • Inspect, diagnose, adjust and repair mechanical defects or failures in various pieces of golf course equipment on a regular basis including Glen Arbour’s electric golf cart fleet.
  • Maintain turf equipment fleet to ensure all equipment is safe and operable.
  • Research product alternatives and do cost benefit analysis, to impact upgrades to equipment fleet.
  • Oversee and maintain equipment areas to keep a professional, clean and organized shop in compliance with the Nova Scotia Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Examine and service daily the equipment for performance enhancement, communicating any needs or problems related to maintenance or repair of equipment to the Superintendent.
  • Overhaul and repair automotive and other powered equipment including engines, brakes, transmissions, differentials, springs, mufflers, etc.
  • Responsible for administrative duties in relation to the operation of the shop including purchasing, receiving, vehicle record maintenance, inventory control, safety checklists for equipment.
  • Purchase and keep inventory of parts and replacement supplies.
  • Adhere to company and department policies and safety procedures.
  • Assist with the development of safe operating procedures and training for all equipment, tools and tasks involved in maintaining the golf course facilities.
  • Instruct and or train turf management staff regarding preventative maintenance, equipment usage, proper cleaning and safe operation of equipment.


Qualifications, Skills and Education Requirements


  • Experience servicing gas and diesel turf equipment with an understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems, welding, reel set up and maintenance, trade experience as a mechanic considered an asset.
  • A current, valid Nova Scotia driver’s license is required, and must be maintained throughout the course of employment.
  • Ability to meet and perform physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently.
  • Professional and effective communicator
  • Fabrication skills are considered an asset.
