About the role
The Council’s Operations Department are looking for dedicated individuals for casual, seasonal (5-6 months) Turf and Golf Maintenance Officer positions. The positions will be responsible for maintaining sporting reserves and assisting in the maintenance of turf at golf courses through the application of horticulture and turf maintenance skills and utilisation of turf specific plant equipment.

The main responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out turf maintenance, renewal and renovation works in accordance with works programs and industry standards to ensure sporting reserves are maintained to high quality, playable surfaces;
- Assisting in carrying out turf maintenance works on high priority recreation sites and golf courses in accordance with works plans and management plans;
- Undertaking turf maintenance tasks such as mowing, brush cutting, fertilising, weed control and soil/sand maintenance to ensure service standards are met;
- Assisting in basic maintenance and repairs of sporting infrastructure;
- Undertaking basic audits and risk assessments and assist the Team Leader in implementing solutions to ensure playing surfaces, sporting infrastructure and public safety risks are rectified;
- Assisting in carrying out any necessary cleansing activities on sports grounds including collection of litter and reporting of graffiti and vandalism; and
- Maintaining accurate records of completed tasks and inspections as well as assisting the Team Leader by providing input into reports, collecting data and maintaining accurate records of completed tasks.
About you
The following knowledge and skills are required to be demonstrated by the preferred candidates:
- Knowledge and skills in horticulture/turf maintenance techniques;
- Ability to use a variety of horticulture and turf management tools, plant and mechanical equipment;
- Experience in maintaining turf in parks, sporting reserves, recreation areas or golf courses; and
- Experience in the use of a variety of tools, plant and mechanical equipment relating to civil/open space maintenance.
