Under the supervision of the Department Manager or Designate and within established policies, procedures and guidelines, the Ranger is required to provide a fun and relaxed golf environment, ensuring all golfers follow established rules and policies of the Niagara Parks Commission. They are also required to look after the needs of the starting players, while guiding them onto the golf course and ensuring the starting players get off the first tee in an orderly fashion.
This position compensates at a pay rate of $16.88/hr for Seasonal Bargaining Unit and Part-Time employees. Students will be compensated in accordance with Ontario Minimum Wage Legislation.

Qualifications
- Education: No formal education required. Demonstrated knowledge and experience preferred.
- Experience: Strong communication skills and knowledge of golf operations. Four weeks of on-the-job training required as applicable.
- Maintains continuous play, by keeping an acceptable pace, including assisting novice players, watching for delays such as searching for lost golf balls, etc.
- Diplomatically encourages players to speed up including, moving golfers to forward tees, and moving golfers up to the next hole allowing them to play the previous hole later.
- Maintains radio communication with the Starter, to ensure constant coordination and making sure no gaps form early and throughout the day.
- Remains informed about backups and start times.
- Required to watch for golfers driving on inappropriate areas, especially near the greens.
- Ensures all clients keep carts on the path, especially during wet/rainy conditions.
- Monitors golfers to ensure no outside alcohol is brought onto the course and communicates discontinuance of play and/or consumption of alcohol with Manager/Culinary supervisor on site.
- Responsible for filling out various Ranger reports, including Ranger Incident Reports and Total Time Reports.
- Assist with tournament setup including name plates, scorecards, and bag drops.
- Provides break relief for other outside positions, if necessary.
- Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, First Aid, and established policies and procedures.
- Provides quality customer service that meets NPC standards, referring unusual problems to the Manager.
- Promotes a positive image of the Niagara Parks Commission.
- Provides guests with information regarding the Golf Course and other Niagara Parks Attractions.
- Provides quality customer service that meets NPC standards and enforces all golf club policies and regulations. Listens to customer complaints/concerns and forwards any unusual discrepancies to the Manager.
- Assists in the pro shop, if required.
