Whaleback Golf Course is a picturesque 18-hole public golf course in Parkwood with pristine fairways and beautiful landscape. It features a two-storey driving range, coaching facilities, licensed alfresco café, motorised carts and a pro shop that sells and fits equipment. Owned and operated by the City of Canning, we are committed to providing an exceptional experience for our members and guests.

About the role

The City of Canning is building a brand-new team to run the golf operations at Whaleback Golf Course, providing excellent opportunity to be part of a friendly team who together will shape a great working environment.

The cook is a key member of the Whaleback team providing a food and beverage service from the on-site café to patrons of Whaleback.

In this role, you will undertake duties such as:
  • Develop menus using fresh, seasonal produce from local suppliers
  • General kitchen duties including preparation of café style meals
  • Adhere to excellent hygiene standards and cleanliness in the facilities.
  • Assist with developing procedures to enhance the F&B experience.
  • Stock and inventory control including monthly stock takes
Skills & Experience
  • At least 2 years of cooking experience with a qualification in commercial cookery
  • Experience with menu design with recipe costing in mind
  • Understanding of various cooking methods, equipment and procedures
  • Accreditation as a Food Safety Supervisor (or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to work within a 7-day roster including public holidays
