Role Description The Golf Controller is a full-time, on-site role based in San Diego County, CA, responsible for overseeing the financial management and accounting operations for JC Resorts’ golf properties. This role manages budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for golf operations, including revenue, cost of goods sold, payroll, and capital expenditures. The Golf Controller monitors daily and monthly financial performance, reconciles accounts, ensures accurate posting of golf-related transactions (green fees, memberships, tournaments, retail, and food & beverage), and maintains internal controls in compliance with company policies and applicable regulations. Day-to-day responsibilities include partnering with golf and resort leadership to analyze financial results, identify trends and opportunities, support pricing and revenue strategies, and provide clear financial insights to guide operational decisions. The role also collaborates with corporate finance, auditors, and property management teams to streamline processes, implement best practices, and support special projects and system improvements.

Qualifications
  • Strong financial and accounting skills, including budgeting, forecasting, general ledger management, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency with accounting and property management systems, point-of-sale systems, and advanced Excel or similar spreadsheet tools.
  • Experience in hospitality, golf, or resort operations finance, with an understanding of golf revenue streams, inventory, and cost controls.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data, develop actionable insights, and communicate findings clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to build effective working relationships across operations, finance, and leadership teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field; CPA, CMA, or similar certification is a plus.
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience in an accounting or finance function is preferred.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and relevant compliance requirements; experience with audits and internal controls is beneficial.
