Position Summary:

The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent assists the Golf Course Superintendent in managing and maintaining the golf course to ensure optimal playing conditions and aesthetics. This role includes supervising grounds staff, managing daily maintenance operations, and helping implement turf management programs. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, detail-oriented professional with a passion for turf management and a strong commitment to course quality and safety.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in daily planning, scheduling, and supervision of the golf course maintenance team.
  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of irrigation systems, including troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Implement agronomic programs including fertilization, pest management, aeration, and topdressing.
  • Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding pesticide use and environmental protection.
  • Monitor turf health and playing conditions, reporting issues and recommending solutions.
  • Assist in managing inventory and ordering of supplies such as fertilizers, chemicals, and equipment parts.
  • Train, coach, and supervise seasonal and full-time maintenance staff.
  • Operate and maintain a wide variety of turf care equipment.
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent to develop and execute long-term improvement plans.

Qualifications:
  • 2–4 years of golf course maintenance experience, preferably in a supervisory role.
  • Associate's or bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Valid pesticide applicator’s license or ability to obtain one within 90 days.
  • Strong knowledge of turfgrass practices, irrigation systems, and course equipment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in varying weather conditions.
