Howlong is situated on the banks of the majestic Murray River, 29 km west of Albury, within a renowned gourmet food and wine region. The award-winning Howlong Golf Resort boasts one of the largest membership base of any Golf Club in Australia and has a reputation of being one of the best-presented courses on the Murray River.


The Club has a picturesque 18-hole golf course, Bowling Greens, Motel Complex with 25 rooms and 4 luxury Apartments, adjacent to a large clubhouse complimented by Fairways Bistro, function rooms and gaming machines.


We are currently seeking a General Manager who will take control of what is an already successful business, who is a creative thinker and has strategic vision and who is capable of addressing the many and varied situations associated with the club industry.

The successful applicant will be well supported by an Operations Manager, a team of Duty managers, Golf Director, and Course Superintendent. Ideally the successful candidate will be familiar with Golf Club operations.

Reporting to the President and Board of Directors, the General Manager is responsible for achieving the Club’s objectives and ensuring that the Club operates at or above industry standards and complies with all relevant legislative and regulatory obligations. This includes directing and managing the Club to ensure it is commercially orientated and viable in the long-term, through providing cost-effective and high-quality services.

This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Developing proposals for the strategic direction of the Club considering vision, market conditions, competition, and the regulatory environment.
  • Always performing to high standards, to set an example for other Club employees.
  • Always Demonstrating professionalism and integrity, so that Club members and their elected representatives are confident in the leadership of their Club.
  • Providing timely and accurate operational information to the Board of Directors
  • Implementing Club policies (as determined in conjunction with the Club’s Board of Directors) on a day-to-day basis.
