Full job description

Minimum Requirements:
  • Advancement from Greensperson/Equipment Operator Level 1 or equivalent
  • Excellent Communication skills, both written and verbal
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Valid Georgia Driver’s License
  • Knowledge of golf course maintenance techniques
  • Knowledge of the regulations regarding the use of fertilizers and pesticides
  • Skill in operating mowers, tractors, stick-edgers, weedeaters, back-pack blowers chain saws and hand tools

Tasks/Responsibilities:
  • Properly use protective devices such as masks, goggles, and gloves
  • Train Greensperson/Equipment Operator Level 1 as required
  • Assist reensperson/Equipment OperatorLevel 1 in bunker maintenance as directed by supervisor
  • Assist Irrigatioin Technician or Spray Technician when directed by supervisor
  • Monitors for hot spots and disease reporting any issue to the supervisor
  • Mow greens, fairways, and tees
  • Maintains rough and areas surrounding the golf courses
  • Flymow bunker complexes, lake banks and other designated areas as directed by supervisor
  • Maintains sand traps by filling traps with sand, pumping water out of traps, and spinning and raking the traps
  • Operate stick-edgers, weedeaters, back-pack blowers, and other small equipment as directed by supervisor
  • Operate walk mowers, rough mowers, utility carts, and turbine blower as directed by supervisor
  • Removes trees, trims shrubs, and weeds flower beds
  • Maintain mower and changes cutting reels as needed; sharpens or replaces blades as needed
  • Assists in overseeding greens and tees
  • Thoroughly inspects equipment prior to and after use insuring that all trash, dirt, clippings, etc. are removed
  • Thoroughly inspects machinery for proper operation prior to use; reporting any malfunction to supervisor/mechanic as soon as possible
  • Ensure all equipment used is full of fuel and other necessary fluids prior to and after use
  • Report any damage to golf course or equipment to supervisor as soon as possible
  • Wear appropriate safety gear for each task as directed by supervisor
  • Keep maintenance shop area clean and orderly, including fertilizer room, breakroom, bathrooms, tool room, shop floor, and area surrounding maintenance building as directed by supervisor
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of current guest services, activities, dining options, shops, local attractions, and historical information regarding Sea Island and the surrounding area to answer any questions guests may have to the best of one’s ability
  • If applicable, complete a Guest Problem Resolutions (GPR) form on any issues (solved or unsolved issues) and follow-up on issues as needed (if computer access is not available give information to admin support)
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization in all work areas
  • Uphold appropriate departmental standards of quality/timing
  • Uphold and ensure compliance with all company and departmental policies and procedures
  • Report all equipment problems and maintenance issues, known safety hazards, or unsafe practices and procedures to supervisor immediately
  • Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement
  • Willing and timely execution of other duties as delegated by leadership
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to kneel, crouch, squat, climb, crawl, stand, sit, balance, reach, bend, push, pull and walk for prolonged periods
  • Ability to use tools and equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity
  • Must have the ability to work for extended time periods in an outdoor environment, including sun, extreme heat, extreme cold, wind, rain, and higher than normal noise levels
  • Ability to lift, carry, pull and push up to 100 lbs repeatedly throughout a shift
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal
  • May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, fume hazards, dust and airborne particulates, or other hazardous
  • No visible tattoos, visible body piercing or unnatural hair color or hairstyles per company grooming standards
