Job Summary:

Deerwood Country Club is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Spray Technician to join our team at our prestigious Country Club.

The Spray Technician is responsible for the application of control materials and fertilizers to the club’s grounds to maintain and improve the health and appearance of the turf.

This position entails knowledge of all aspects of golf course maintenance, including equipment and turf, chemical and fertilizer products, and application equipment in accordance with product labeling, local, state, and federal laws.

The ideal candidate would have a strong desire to learn all aspects of golf course maintenance. This position is a great opportunity to learn and advance in the golf business.

This position reports at 6:00 a.m. Monday through Friday and is typically finished at 3:00 p.m.

Responsibilities:
  • Mix, prepare, and apply chemical solutions (e.g., insecticides, herbicides, fungicides) in order to control pests, weeds, or plant disease according to schedule, and label instructions.
  • Follow company safety and security policies and procedures including use of proper PPE, recordkeeping, and safe work practices; report defective equipment, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to superintendent; complete safety training and certifications on-site.
  • Maintain accurate records of fertilizer and pesticide applications.
  • Identify and report pest and nutrient issues requiring corrective action.
  • Conduct monthly chemical and fertilizer inventory.
  • Operate tractors, trucks, or utility vehicles to transport equipment and supplies.
  • Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines to identify defects.
  • Maintain chemical and fertilizer storage areas and application equipment in a neat and organized manner.
  • Support team to reach common goals.
  • Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.
  • Individuals may be expected to perform other duties as assigned by superintendents.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1 year of chemical or spray application experience in the golf industry
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures
  • Ability to perform physical work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to accurately calibrate application equipment
  • Reliable transportation
Physical Demands:
  • Must be capable of lifting 70 pounds.
  • Must be capable of walking and being on foot for long periods of time.
  • Outdoor work environment, potentially working in rain, cold, extreme Florida heat. The job is performed primarily during the daytime hours, but employees must be available for special situations and times.
  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals, department equipment and excessive noise is expected.
