Assistant Superintendent – Ellerston Golf
Full-time Position | Upper Hunter Valley, NSW

A rare opportunity exists for a driven and experienced turf professional to join our world-class golf course team as an Assistant Superintendent at Ellerston Golf — one of Australia’s most prestigious and exclusive championship courses.
We are seeking a motivated and passionate individual to support the Course Superintendent in managing day-to-day operations, leading turf maintenance, and delivering exceptional playing conditions all year round. This is a career-defining role for someone committed to quality, leadership, and continual improvement.
About the role
As Assistant Superintendent, you will play a key role in the presentation, planning, and maintenance of our elite course. Working closely with the Superintendent, you’ll lead a skilled team and contribute to agronomic planning, project work, and the ongoing development of the course.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with daily maintenance, preparation, and presentation of the course
• Manage irrigation systems (Toro Lynx), including scheduling and repairs
• Monitor turf health, diagnose issues, and apply chemical treatments
• Operate machinery and lead small field projects
• Support and supervise team members, fostering skill development
• Uphold workplace health and safety standards at all times
What we’re looking for:
• Certificate III in Sports Turf Management (minimum)
• 3+ years’ experience in a similar or senior turf role (Assistant-in-Training or higher)
• Sound turf agronomy knowledge and a sharp eye for detail
• Current Chemical Application Certificate and valid driver’s license
• Proven ability to lead by example and work flexible hours, including early starts and weekends
• Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude
• A passion for high performance and ongoing learning
• Commitment to safety and best practice in all aspects of turf care
