About the Role

We are currently seeking to fill a 2IC position within our dedicated course maintenance team. The Assistant Superintendent will be responsible for managing all aspects of golf course maintenance, as well as assisting in a number of strategic planning initiatives for course improvements. This position will also be responsible for leading and motivating the maintenance team and overseeing all course operations in the absence of the Superintendent.

Reporting directly to the Course Superintendent, the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate exceptional communication, people and leadership skills. It is vital that the applicant can manage time and multi-task effectively.

The Assistant Superintendent will have extensive knowledge on fine turf management, machinery, irrigation and have an understanding of the game of golf. The Assistant Superintendent will be responsible for assisting all aspects of golf course maintenance, in conjunction with leading and motivating the team alongside the Course Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Developing course maintenance staff to a high skill level and employ those skills in their day-to-day activity to continually improve productivity and efficient work practices.
  • Work with Management to help promote member satisfaction through maintaining and presenting a high-quality golf course and its surrounding premises.
  • Thoroughly assist in all WH&S training needs and procedures.
  • Maintain and build strong working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Produce timely communication to keep key stakeholders updated and well informed.
Requirements
  • Minimum five years’ experience in the turf industry (desirable)
  • Certificate/Diploma in Sports Turf Management
  • Practical experience in the operation and maintenance of horticultural plant and machinery
  • Chemical spraying certificate with practical experience in chemical and fertiliser application and reading safety data sheets.
  • Have a sound knowledge of all aspects of irrigation, repairs, programming, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong work ethic with shown ability to lead and motivate a small team.
  • Prepared to work weekends when required.
  • Experience operating all turf equipment.
  • Current driver’s license
