The Assistant Golf Professional assists the Head Golf Professional in the management of day-to-day golf operations of the facilities
The position is responsible to supervise and manage total golf operations in the absence of the Head Golf Professional
All duties of the position shall be performed with a commitment to the highest level of customer service and total satisfaction of all customers

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Evaluation of this position is based primarily on performance of the following essential functions, which include, but are not limited to:
Assisting the Head Golf Professional with daily pro shop operations including, inventory management, merchandising, staffing, addressing customer concerns, and monitoring daily play
- Course Operations
- Ensuring proper rules, regulations, and procedures are being adhered to by players
- Setting up and coordinating leagues and tournaments held at the course
- Player Development
- Develop, organize, and implement the Fargo Park District Junior Golf Program
- Provide appropriate and competent golf instruction for all levels of golfers including off-season programming
- Assist with the development of year-round programming designed to attract new and existing golfers
Organize and implement the program for all levels of golfers
- Operations and Maintenance
- Maintain the pro shop and clubhouse and coordinate with the Golf Superintendent regarding turf and course management in the absence of the Head Pro
- Carts
- Assisting in the management of golf cart fleet operations, including staging, daily maintenance, and upkeep
- People Management
- Supervising outside services personnel including, driving range attendants and player assistants
- Training golf shop staff on POS system and golf shop policies and procedures
- Pro Shop
- Serving as the subject matter expert for the POS system and pro shop procedures
- Inventory control and retail sales for the pro shop, including ordering, stocking, selling, and right sizing
- Finance
- Accurately operate point of sale system, verify the accuracy of prices of state and federal taxes and other charges on all sales tickets
Collect green fees and cart fees - Assist in planning and budgeting for the golf operations

- Technology
- Acquire and facilitate a working knowledge of "back of the house" operations for POS Fore UP system to insure proper function and integration of these systems
- Supervise computerized golf handicap system whenever necessary
- Marketing
- Ability to promote the golf programs, especially in developing tournament events for the community, area business, civic and charity groups through traditional and digital media
Evaluation of this position may also be based on performance of the following other functions, which include, but are not limited to:
- Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns
- Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public
Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel - Updates and enhances own knowledge by involvement in continuing education for professional growth, i.e., attends relevant conferences, seminars, in-service trainings and certification programs
- Performs related duties as assigned or apparent
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma is required and a 4- year college degree is preferred
- Two (2) years of experience in Golf Shop Operations, Tournament Direction, Golf Instruction or Player Development
- Both inside and outside golf experience including personnel management and supervision
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Golf software POS system(s), ForeUP experience is preferred
- Current member of the PGA of America in good standing, or enrollment in a program to attain class "A" PGA membership status at the time of application or by the end of probation
Enrollment in a program must be continuous, and satisfactory progress otherwise maintained until class "A" membership is attained - Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment
